WPForms OpenAI Ads conversion tracking
Connect a saved WPForms entry to an OpenAI Ads lead_created event, with consent and deduplication when a server event is sent too.

WPForms submissions should connect to OpenAI Ads as conversion events after WPForms confirms that the entry was saved or sent. The default event is lead_created.
What this integration is for
WPForms is used for contact forms, quote forms, registrations, payments and multi-page forms. OpenAI Ads measurement only cares about the completed action you want to optimize for. For most marketing forms that is a lead. For a form that creates an account, registration_completed can be a better fit. For a form that is actually checkout, a purchase path such as WooCommerce is usually the right integration instead.
PixelBridge is an independent WordPress plugin. It is not an official WPForms or OpenAI product. Listing WPForms here means it is a planned connector, not a live one.
Connect submissions to the right event
Map the WPForms confirmation, not the form view.
| WPForms outcome | Planned OpenAI Ads event | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| Contact or quote entry saved | lead_created | Most marketing forms |
| User registration or membership signup | registration_completed | The account or list signup is confirmed |
| Appointment or booking form | appointment_scheduled | The booking exists, not just a request |
| Product payment through a store | purchase | Prefer WooCommerce if that is the order system |
If you are unsure, start with lead_created for successful enquiry forms. Confirm event names in OpenAI's Measurement Pixel documentation before you treat them as final. See conversion events.
Do not fire the conversion when:
- The form is displayed in a widget, popup or Gutenberg block
- A multi-page form reaches page 2
- File upload starts
- Payment or required fields fail
- WPForms shows an error
Confirmation pages versus the success hook
WPForms can show a message, redirect to a page, or go to a custom URL. Those are display choices. The conversion should be the confirmed entry.
A redirect confirmation is a common source of duplicate or empty measurement:
- If you only measure the thank-you page, you miss AJAX success without redirect, and you count direct visits to that URL.
- If you fire on submit click and also on the confirmation page, you double-count.
- If a payment form can fail after redirect, the page view is not a conversion.
The planned integration should hook WPForms success in WordPress, then optionally send a matching browser event. Confirmation-page page views can still be page_viewed. They are not a substitute for the lead.
Browser events, server events and deduplication
A browser event needs the pixel, consent and a single success. WPForms conversational forms, popups and embedded forms should use the same rule.
A server event is useful when the confirmation never renders in the browser. If both fire, they share an event ID, the same event name and the same Pixel ID. See Conversions API.
Do not generate a new event ID on every confirmation-page refresh. Store one ID per WPForms entry when both layers are used.
Consent and fields
WPForms can collect email, phone and message text. OpenAI Ads measurement should not receive a lead event before required measurement consent exists. Field-level hashing and matching rules belong to official OpenAI documentation, not to a custom form snippet. See consent.
PixelBridge should not bypass a consent plugin because a WPForms entry already stored an email in WordPress. Storing an entry and sending an advertising conversion are different actions.
Setup
- Install PixelBridge from WordPress.org.
- Enter the OpenAI Ads Pixel ID.
- Enable WPForms conversion tracking.
- Choose the forms and the event type for each form.
- Keep consent enabled.
- Submit a test entry and confirm one event in diagnostics.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm the form reached its saved or sent state, not a validation error.
- Confirm WPForms saved the entry or showed its success confirmation.
- Confirm the selected form is the one you submitted.
- Grant measurement consent.
- Check that a redirect confirmation is not also firing a second custom script.
- See troubleshooting for pixel load, cache and CSP issues.
